Pakistan Health System
Strengthening Project
The Pakistan
Health System Strengthening Project was awarded to Abt
Associates, a Washington-based leading social sector consulting
firm in the USA, on December 13, 2007. Abt Associates has
partnered with AASA Consulting in implementing this project in
Pakistan. Other partners include Johns Hopkins University, Aga
Khan University, The project comprises four components that
include capacity building of nurses and midwives, and of
government in health systems and administration, targetted
health information, grants management, and strengthening the
contraceptive and drugs logistical system. The project will be
implemented in Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan.
The
mobilization meeting of the PHSSP was held recently in
Islamabad, on February 21, 2008. Key personnel at this meeting
included the Chief of Party, Patricio Murguetio, Chief Executive
AASA Consulting, Zohair Ashir, and Director, AASA Consulting,
Riaz Hussain. The meeting was the first of a series of meetings
to be held by the PHSSP team.
